Sheds Direct Ireland’s Terms & Conditions
Below are the terms and conditions from Sheds Direct Ireland. For more important documents and links, scroll to the bottom of the page.
Terms & Conditions: What to expect after purchasing
Our Team Assembly procedures for Metal Sheds:
1. Assembly is weather permitting. High winds or other dangerous weather conditions can cause postponement of metal shed assembly. This is in the interest of the safety of our assembly team. In these instances, our team will arrange a new assembly date for you as soon as is possible.
2. The fitting team will call prior to arrival to notify you of their expected arrival time. This is usually 20-30 minutes before arrival. The office cannot give you expected times of arrival for the assembly team.
3. You need a solid, level base to the full surface area in place, to build your shed upon. We recommend concrete, paving slabs, Eco bases or tarmac. We recommend that your base is a foot larger than the shed dimensions (e.g. a 10ft x 12ft shed should have a base of 11 ft x 13ft). Decking can work as a base; however, you need to be aware that sheds built on decking will most likely sink over time. It is the customer’s responsibility to have the solid, level base ready for the assembly team.
Base work for Sheds: It is the responsibility of the customer to prepare the Solid Level Base for the Steel shed to be assembled upon. If our fitters are unhappy with the base, do not find it fit for purpose, the customer can sign a waiver to allow the fitters to proceed with fitting. This waiver will release Sheds Direct Ireland from all future liabilities caused by a faulty base.
4. If your base is not solid and level, the team will be unable to assemble. A charge will be incurred for rescheduling your assembly in these instances.
5. In rare instances, shed may vary+ /-10% in size due to the way in which metal is cut / converting measurements from metric to imperial sizes.
6. For safety and Insurance reasons, the assembly team cannot bolt any metal shed down. It is the customer’s responsibility to bolt their shed down to the ground / seal the shed to the base, after assembly.
7. Full payment must be made before the assembly team can begin construction of your metal shed. You can call the office at 01 864 4247 to settle any outstanding payments by card at least 24 hours before assembly or pay by bank transfer 48 hours prior to assembly using your receipt number as your reference.
8. The assembly team will install a 18mm ply flooring in your shed unless requested not to. It will be cut to size and screwed into the frame. Safety caps are NOT applied by the fitting team. The application of these is entirely optional, however the team will leave these caps in your shed should you wish to apply them.
9. The plastic wrap will NOT be removed by our assembly team. The removal of this is essential and it is the customer’s responsibility to remove this as soon as possible to avoid the film becoming fused to the shed.
10. The shed assembly team will only assemble the steel sheds. They will NOT assemble any other products purchased at Sheds Direct Ireland, e.g. shelving units, storage boxes.
11. Woodgrain sheds have their wood-effect applied by a thick adhesive. This can become scratched easily. As such, you should be aware that there may be surface-level scratches on your shed when it is assembled.
12. Steel Sheds are not recommended for coastal areas as salt-water rich air can negatively affect the panels.
13. Cancellation less than 72 Hours prior to scheduled installation, will incur a cancellation fee of up to €100.
14. Sheds cannot be returned once they have been assembled.
15. We will only hold your shed for 90 days after order, after this period storage fees will be charged at €5 per day.
16. During weather changes, especially Autumn and Winter, metal sheds may experience condensation. This is not covered under warranty and can only be solved by insulating the roof of your shed. A damp proof membrane under your base and sealing your shed prevents the build up of condensation but will not alleviate it completely.
17. A 1 year workmanship warranty is offered on our metal units supplied and fitted.
Self-Assembly procedures for Metal Sheds & self-assembly products:
1. Our Metal Sheds will be delivered in 1-5 boxes, depending on what size / type shed you have ordered. Please check the outside of the box to make sure that you have received the right shed before opening. Boxes will be labelled ‘Box 1 of 3’ etc, to make this easier for you.
2. If your metal shed is being delivered, you will need to be present on the day to accept delivery. For logistical reasons, we cannot give our expected delivery times, however the delivery team will call you 20-30 minutes before arrival. Make sure that you have your phone handy on the day – if the drivers cannot contact you / if there is no answer to the call, your delivery may need to be rescheduled for another day and extra delivery charges will apply.
3. Metal sheds will be delivered by either our delivery team or a third-party courier service. The sheds will be delivered to the kerbside. They cannot be carried through gardens, houses etc.
4. Before you begin self-assembly, it is vital that you check all parts off before you begin construction. Some parts may be stuck together (e.g. part 6 is packed between the gutters on the Classic Shed range) so pay special attention when separating parts.
5. In the unlikely event that you are missing a part, call the office at (01) 864 424 7 straight away, or email admin[at]shedsdirectireland.com. You will need to provide your order/ invoice number, the size of the shed that you purchased and which part you are missing (use the instructions to identify the name). The part will be dispatched as soon as possible. In rare instances, this may take up to 14 days.
6. You need a solid, level base to the full surface area in place, to build your shed upon. We recommend concrete, paving slabs, Eco base or tarmac. We recommend that your base is a foot larger than the shed dimensions (e.g. a 10ft x 12ft shed should have a base of 11 ft x 13ft). Decking can work as a base; however you need to be aware that sheds built on decking will most likely sink over time.
7. It is the customer’s responsibility to bolt their shed to their base. A bolting kit is included with some of our shed ranges. If not with your range, you can pick one up from any good hardware store or builder’s supplier.
8. Woodgrain sheds have their wood-effect applied by a thick adhesive. This can become scratched easily. As such, you should be aware that there may be surface-level scratches on your shed when it arrives.
9. Flat-packed sheds do not come with internal plywood flooring. We recommend 18mm Smart Ply for flooring. You can purchase this in any good builder suppliers. They usually come in sheets that are 8ft x 4ft in size and you will need to cut these to size to fit into your shed.
10. Steel Sheds are not recommended for coastal areas as salt-water rich air can negatively affect the panels
11. The removal of the plastic wrap is essential, and it is the customer’s responsibility to remove this as soon as possible to avoid the film becoming fused to the shed.
12. Once you assemble or attempt to assemble your shed, you cannot return it.
13. We have a 14 day returns policy from receipt of purchase. The product must be in its original packaging and unused.
14. No compensation will be offered if a delivery is delayed our cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
15. We will only hold your shed for 90 days after order, after this period storage fees will be charged at €5 per day.
NB. Steel sheds may vary +/-10% in size because of the way in which steel is cut and converting metric to imperial sizing.
