What are the different wood types?
So you’ve decided on a wooden shed, but you’re caught up with the terminology of the wood types. This is fairly common, don’t worry.
At Sheds Direct Ireland, we offer three different styles of wooden finish. These are:
Our Entry level Wood. It’s made with overlapping planks.
Interlocking wood with ‘tongue-in-groove’ connections.
Almost identical to Delux, but it differs with it’s barrelled appearance.
These are the most affordable Wooden Sheds that we offer. They’re made from high quality wooden boards, which are overlapped onto each other. The way they sit creates slight gaps in the wood (as you can see below), so these sheds wouldn’t be ideal if you were storing something that would be damaged by damp or frost.
If purchased without the Pressure Treated upgrade, they will need to be varnished once a year to prevent rot, fungus growth, vermin damage etc.
Rustic Sheds are popular for their price point.
Deluxe Sheds are a step up fro the Rustic Sheds. The wood sits into each other through ‘Tongue-in-groove’ connection points, making them considerably less exposed to the elements/rodents etc than the Rustic Sheds.
Deluxe Sheds purchased without the Pressure Treated upgrade will need to be varnished once a year also.
The Barrel Board style is very similar to the Delux, however it has a barrelled, smoothed finish to it. Agin, these sheds are a step up fro the Rustic Sheds. The wood sits into each other through ‘Tongue-in-groove’ connection points also, so they’ve them same benefits as the Deluxe would have.
All Barrel Board sheds come with a Pressure Treatment as standard, so they require very little maintenance after purchase.
Barrel Board are popular with families – the smooth wood reduces slinters etc, and the barrel board is treated so it doesn’t require much upkeep, if any at all.
